Oman Gallery is a contemporary art gallery with a unique place in Israel’s Haredi community. It aims to build a bridge between Haredi audiences and the local art scene, creating a space for dialogue and engagement with Israeli art. The gallery was founded to provide a platform for Haredi artists to present and advance their work. Its premises include an exhibition space with a changing programme of contemporary exhibitions and six artist studios. Located in the industrial area of Jerusalem’s Kiryat Shaul neighbourhood, the gallery draws on its surroundings and explores the relationship between art and place.
The gallery’s exhibitions bring together artists and works from different periods and across different media. They shape the gallery as a place for encounters, connection and mutual support. The gallery sees exhibitions as a way to strengthen the relationship between artists and viewers and to bring different worldviews and perspectives into conversation. This approach also opens up a search for alternative structures, forms and compositions, exploring connections within the artwork and beyond it, in society and everyday life.
